Description
Our Howa APC 6.5 Creedmoor Carbon is a APC chassis bolt gun in 6.5 Creedmoor. It comes with a 24-inch carbon fiber barrel, a APC aluminum chassis with American Flag Cerakote and Luth-AR MBA-4 stock and 10-round capacity. A Nikko Stirling Diamond 4-16x50mm scope comes with it. It sells for $1,735, and it’s in stock. Most buyers pick it for deer, black bear and long-range targets.
What you get with the Howa APC 6.5 Creedmoor Carbon
The APC is Howa’s full precision rifle. The 1500 action sits in an aluminum chassis with a 6-position Luth-AR MBA-4 buttstock, so you can set length of pull and cheek height for prone or bench work.
The 1500 action is the reason Howa has such a following. It’s simple, strong and made in Japan, with a one-piece two-lug bolt and a three-position safety you can unload on.
The barrel is carbon fiber wrapped steel. It’s lighter than a solid steel barrel of the same contour and stays stiff, so it doesn’t walk as it heats up during a string. The Luth-AR stock adjusts for length of pull and cheek height, so you can get a straight line of sight through the scope.

The included scope
This rifle comes with a Nikko Stirling Diamond 4-16x50mm scope. 4 to 16 power with a 50mm objective gives you enough magnification for steel at distance and a bright picture at dawn and dusk. Plan on a box of ammo to zero it and confirm your holds before the season.
What the 6.5 Creedmoor is good for
Hornady introduced the 6.5 Creedmoor in 2007 as a match cartridge. It caught on with hunters too, and it’s now one of the best-selling rifle rounds in the US. It fires long, high-BC bullets that hold their speed and resist wind, so it’s popular for target shooting from 300 to 1,000 yards. With the right bullet it’s a proven deer and black bear round, and recoil is noticeably lighter than a .308.
Factory loads usually run 120 to 147 grains. The standard 1:8 twist stabilizes the long 140 and 147 grain match bullets as well as lighter hunting bullets. For chamber and pressure specs, see the SAAMI centerfire rifle standard, or read the history of the 6.5 Creedmoor.
Who should buy it
It’s for long-range shooters, PRS-style competitors and anyone who shoots prone off a bipod. The 24-inch barrel gets the most velocity out of the cartridge, which helps at longer range.
Choosing 6.5 Creedmoor ammo
Try a few factory loads before you settle on one. Barrels have preferences, and a 20-minute test at the range tells you which load to buy in bulk. For game, choose a bonded or controlled-expansion bullet. Practice ammo is fine for paper but not for animals.
Before the season, check your state’s rules on legal cartridges and hunter education. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has a good starting point for public land hunting and state contacts.
At the range
Plan a full session for the first trip. Get on paper at 25 yards, then zero at 100 and shoot a few groups so you know what the rifle and load can do. The 6.5 Creedmoor really shines past 300 yards, so once you’re zeroed, it’s worth getting time at longer distances and writing down your drops.

Setting up your Howa APC 6.5 Creedmoor Carbon
Before you shoot it, run a patch through the bore to clear out any shipping oil and check that the action screws are snug. The scope is already mounted, so check the ring screws with a torque driver before you zero. Zero at 100 yards, then check where your load lands at the distances you actually shoot.
