Buy Howa rifles online: ordering and FFL transfers

You can buy Howa rifles online the same way you’d buy anything else, with one extra step: the rifle goes to a licensed dealer, not your front door. Here’s how it works at Howa 1500 Rifles, what it costs and what to check before you order.

How to buy Howa rifles online, step by step

• Find your rifle. Search the Howa rifles for sale page or browse by model or caliber.
• Pick a federally licensed (FFL) dealer near you. Most gun shops do transfers, and many charge a small fee.
• Check out and give us the dealer’s details. We ship the rifle to them.
• Go to the dealer, fill out ATF Form 4473, pass the background check and take your rifle home.

The federal rules are in the ATF firearms questions and answers. Your state or city may add waiting periods or other limits, so check before you order.

Why buy Howa rifles online instead of in a shop?

Selection, mostly. Local shops rarely stock more than a few Howas. We list 137, in 29 6.5 Creedmoor versions, 24 308 versions and 39 Mini Actions alone, and every one is in stock. You can compare barrel lengths, stocks and finishes side by side and see the real price.

What to check before you buy Howa rifles online

• The caliber is legal for what and where you plan to hunt.
• The barrel length and weight suit how you’ll carry the rifle.
• Whether a scope is included, and if not, what rings and base you need.
• Your dealer’s transfer fee and hours, so pickup is easy.
• Your state’s rules on threaded barrels, magazines or waiting periods.

Choosing an FFL dealer

Call the dealer first. Ask whether they accept transfers from online sellers, what they charge and what ID they need. Some shops have set transfer hours, so it helps to know before your rifle arrives. Keep their phone number handy when you check out.

When the dealer calls to say your rifle has arrived, bring a valid government ID. If your state requires a permit or a waiting period, the dealer will explain the steps.
