Description
The Howa Fence Line 300 Blackout Scorched Earth is Howa’s Fence Line rifle chambered in .300 Blackout, built with a 16.25-inch threaded barrel, a Scorched Earth camo synthetic stock and 5-round capacity. Price is $650, and we have it in stock. If you want one rifle for hogs, deer at close range and suppressed shooting, this is a good place to start.
Howa Fence Line 300 Blackout Scorched Earth features
The Fence Line series is the Howa 1500 dressed for the field. The barreled action gets a Cerakote finish, the synthetic stock comes in camo, and the threaded barrel ships with a muzzle brake.
Every Howa 1500 starts with a forged and machined receiver and a one-piece bolt with two lugs. The three-position safety has a middle setting that lets you work the bolt to unload while the rifle stays on safe.
The HACT (Howa Actuator Controlled Trigger) is a two-stage trigger. There’s a light take-up stage, then a crisp break, which makes it easier to shoot well from field positions. A threaded muzzle (1/2×28) means you can add a muzzle brake or a suppressor later where local law allows. It ships with a muzzle brake installed, which noticeably cuts felt recoil and muzzle rise.
What the .300 Blackout is good for
The .300 AAC Blackout was developed by Advanced Armament Corp. and standardized through SAAMI in 2011. It fits a .30 caliber bullet on a shortened .223 case. It works best from short barrels and suppressors. Supersonic loads handle deer and hogs at close range, and subsonic loads with a can are very quiet.
Supersonic loads use 110 to 125 grain bullets and subsonic loads use 190 to 220 grain bullets. For chamber and pressure specs, see the SAAMI centerfire rifle standard, or read the history of the .300 Blackout.

Who this rifle is for
If your rifle rides in a truck, gets rained on and leans against fence posts, the Cerakote and camo stock are made for that life. The short barrel keeps it handy in vehicles and blinds, and it’s well suited to a suppressor.
Choosing .300 Blackout ammo
Try a few factory loads before you settle on one. Barrels have preferences, and a 20-minute test at the range tells you which load to buy in bulk. Hunting loads cost more, but they’re made to expand and hold together on game. Use them in the field and cheaper ammo for practice.
Hunting rules are set state by state. Start at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service hunting page for federal lands, then check your state agency for seasons and caliber limits.
Your first range trip
Set up at 25 yards first so your first shots land on paper. Then move back to 100 yards and adjust in small steps, firing three-shot groups and letting the barrel cool between them. Most .300 Blackout shooting happens inside 200 yards, so confirm your zero at 50 and 100 and learn where it hits at 150.

Setting up your Howa Fence Line 300 Blackout Scorched Earth
Before you shoot it, run a patch through the bore to clear out any shipping oil and check that the action screws are snug. Pick rings or a base that suit the scope you plan to run, and use a torque driver on the ring screws. Zero at 100 yards, then check where your load lands at the distances you actually shoot.
Ordering and FFL transfer
Rifles can’t ship straight to your door. When you order the Howa Fence Line 300 Blackout Scorched Earth, we ship it to a federally licensed (FFL) dealer near you. You fill out ATF Form 4473 there, pass the background check and take it home. For the federal side, see the ATF firearms Q&A. Your state may add its own rules, so look those up too.
