Howa Mini Action 22 ARC Green features
Howa built the Mini Action around cartridges like the .223, 6.5 Grendel, 6mm ARC and 7.62×39. Shrinking the action to fit those rounds cuts weight and bolt travel, and it feeds from a detachable box magazine.
The 1500 action is made by Howa Machinery in Japan. It’s a two-lug, push-feed action with a one-piece bolt, and the three-position safety lets you run the bolt on safe so you can unload without firing.
It has a two-stage trigger with a short first stage and a clean break. The barrel is threaded 5/8×24 at the muzzle and ships with a thread protector, ready for a brake or can.

The 22 ARC cartridge
The 22 ARC is a Hornady cartridge introduced in 2023. It takes the 6mm ARC case and necks it down to .224, so it fits AR-15 length magazines and short actions. It was built to shoot heavy, high-BC .22 bullets at useful speeds, which makes it a strong pick for steel targets, PRS-style practice and varmints at distance. Recoil is about as light as centerfire gets.
Factory loads use 62 to 88 grain bullets. A fast twist like 1:7 is needed to stabilize the long heavy bullets the round was designed around. If you want the technical side, the SAAMI centerfire rifle standard covers chamber dimensions and pressure.

The Mini Action is Howa’s answer to AR-sized cartridges in a bolt gun. The action, bolt and chamber are about 12 percent shorter than a standard short action, so the bolt throw is shorter and the rifle is lighter and quicker to cycle.
At the range
Set up at 25 yards first so your first shots land on paper. Then move back to 100 yards and adjust in small steps, firing three-shot groups and letting the barrel cool between them. The 22 ARC really shines past 300 yards, so once you’re zeroed, it’s worth getting time at longer distances and writing down your drops.
